My Entrepreneurship Story
Entrepreneurship. Some people find this word intimidating;
however, my family has a lengthy history of taking the bull by the horns. Let’s
begin with my grandpa on my mom’s side, he began working as an electrician in
the 1970s alongside my great-uncle. Together, they formed their own electrical
business which is still operating to this day. On my dad’s side of my family my
grandpa owned and operated a moving company which he built from the ground up.
Eventually, he had five different locations across the country. Then, there’s
my mom’s mother, my Mimi. She bought a balloon shop and a floral shop. She
combined the two and was a successful florist for 15 years.
My grandparents’ business ventures must have encouraged my
parents to do the same. Today, my dad and mom own an electrical business. My
dad started out as an electrician for my grandpa, but decided he wanted to work
for himself. So, he left my grandpa’s company and assumed his own endeavors.
With the help of my mom’s intellect in bookkeeping and secretarial work, they
have continued profiting from the business.
Needless to say, my family has definitely fueled my desire
of entrepreneurship. In the past few months, I have really begun to explore
opportunities, such as, blogging and house cleaning. When I came across this
course, I thought it would be perfect to further my entrepreneurship
story.

ReplyDeleteHi Brandi, Wow, that’s amazing!! It sounds like your family is very encouraging of entrepreneurship just like my family is. Their support is priceless I’m sure; just like my family is of me. With a history of family entrepreneurial endeavors, it makes sense as to why you are interested in starting your own business as well. Have you ever stopped to think where you would be if your family wasn’t as creative and hard working as they are?
I think it's really interesting how your family motivates your desire to become an entrepreneur - particularly considering the fact that many people's families tend to discourage entrepreneurship in favor of "safer" career paths. I know that for me personally this is the case, having the sort of supportive environment that you do will certainly aid you in developing entrepreneurial skills.
