Who
- Through my interviews every woman said that they would buy a device like this. However, a few of the women were not very worried about feeling more safe because they already feel safe or like they don’t need more protection. So, although they said they would buy the product, I am not so sure that they would. One of the women was in her 70s, so I think her age has something to do with feeling secure. The other woman owns a gun and has her concealed carry permit, therefore, I believe this is the reason why she does not feel the need for more protection.
What
- Although women want to feel safe and less worried, they also want to feel carefree. It is not fun to live your life in worry, as I have found from personal experience and several interviews proved that other women feel this way, too. Although when confronted with the idea of this device all of the women said they would buy it, when it comes to reality, I think that some women would ignore the purchase of this device because they don’t want to feel like they would ever need to use it.
Why
- The outsiders’ needs are still the same— they want to feel safe, protected, and less worried. However, the outsiders already feel safe and protected due to an outside source, such as, faith, weapons, or the fact that they have “made it this long” without extra protection.

Hey! I’m glad that in interviewing people you interviewed a variety of individuals that fall into different categories, I did the same in the fact that I interviewed all different sorts of students. I do think that you are on to something that not every woman would purchase your product. It’s a great idea, but not every person carries pepper spray with them either. Certain products cater to different markets. I think that your product would probably somewhat align with the pepper spray market.
ReplyDeleteI like that your interviews were able to provide you with so much pertinent information. It is going to be interesting to deal with the fact that some people might not want your product simply because they do not want it. This could force you to focus on a very niche market, which could be a step away from the more general focus you provided in your summary in 8A.
ReplyDeleteYou've done a good job assessing your audience, Brandi! It seems like you are passionate about which indeed provides a good solution to a critical need. Once you identify a great way to maybe endorse presence the concept will be easier to expose to the market. In pairing with something like a prevention agency or maybe some sort of safety alliance might be a way to gain recognition for a hard to find item.
ReplyDeleteHi Brandi, great post! It is interesting that everyone who you interviewed said that they would buy it. One thing that could prevent people from buying this item is if they already have several items for the same purpose. I would suggest first asking your interviewees if they already have a product for self-protection. If they do, I would ask them if they would still but this product despite that.
