Exit Strategy 28A

My exit strategy is to sell my business in about 5 years. I’ve selected this exit strategy because I plan on going back to college to pursue my Master’s in Psychology after all of my children are in school. They will all be in school in the next few years. So, five years in this business would be a good amount of time to hopefully make and save money from selling the product. Then, I will sell the business and it will be someone else’s to take care of and I can focus on my future in psychology. With my chosen exit strategy, it is important not to waste money or time. I will have to be choosy when it comes to employees and ensure that I don’t have too many employees. Early on, I will be networking with people who could possibly buy the business so it’s easier in the end.

  1. Hello, Brandi

I think it is really awesome that you plan on selling your business in five years and then focusing on your masters in psychology. I personally love psychology and had to take many courses relating to this field since I am in the Pre-Physician Assistant route. Selling your business will be a great way to generate money that you will then use to pursue your masters in psychology.

  2. Hi Brandi, great post. I think it is very cool that you are planning on getting your Masters in Psychology. I also said that my exit strategy would be to sell the business within five years. However, I made this decision because my business just doesn't line up with my career interests. Good luck with your plan to get your masters degree.

Let’s begin with my grandpa on my mom’s side, he began working as an electrician in the 1970s alongside my great-uncle. Together, they formed their own electrical business which is still operating to this day. On my dad’s side of my family my grandpa owned and operated a moving company which he built from the ground up. Eventually, he had five different locations across the country. Then, there’s my mom’s mother, my Mimi. She bought a balloon shop and a floral shop. She combined the two and was a successful florist for 15 years. My grandparents’ business ventures must have encouraged my parents to do the same. Today, my dad and mom own an electrical business. My dad started out as an electrician for my grandpa, but decided he wanted to work for himself. So, he left my grandpa’s company and assumed his o...
