Reading Reflection No. 2 21A

1.     What was the general theme or argument of the book? The book is a series of tips for social media users. It discusses different tips for different social media platforms, including Facebook, Pinterest, Google+, Instagram, Youtube, Twitter, and Linkedin. He aims at giving the best advice for new users. He includes disclaimers that this is his opinion and of course, there are differing views out there for the best social media experience.
2.     How did the book, in your opinion, connect with and enhance what you are learning in ENT 3003? The book taught me that it is important to have various social media platforms and to add posts to each of them daily or more. Prior to beginning ENT 3003, I had started thinking about starting my own blog. But I wasn’t sure how I would get people to read it. Now I know that I should create various social media accounts that are all related and that will help promote my blog. Also, if I continued on with the product I designed for this course, I could use social media to promote the product.
3.     If you had to design an exercise for this class, based on the book you read, what would that exercise involve? I would have the class create a signature, which Kawaski pointed out is important and should be included in all emails. The signature consists of your title, email address, phone number, and links to your social media accounts. Also, I would have the class practice how to include the icon links to social media in their blogs. This is important in blogging because it allows the reader to have easy access to all of your other social media accounts.
4.     What was your biggest surprise or ‘aha’ moment when reading the book? In other words, what did you learn that differed most from your expectations? Prior to reading the book, I didn’t realize that you should create multiple versions of your posts and images for different social media accounts. For example, on Google+ you should use a 735-by-1101 pixel image with a longer post than you would for LinkedIn. On Facebook, the post should be shorter and have a 788-by-940 pixel image. Whereas on Twitter, the picture should be 512-by-1024 pixels and there is a character limit on Twitter posts. Therefore, you should tweet additional quotes from the post. Overall, the varying lengths of posts is important to each social media platform because users’ attention span differs based on the platform they are using. People on Facebook are less willing to read a lengthy post than users on Google+. I’m glad that I chose this book to read because it has encouraged me to write a blog. I will definitely be referring back to it as I create my blog and other accounts.

My Entrepreneurship Story 3A

My Entrepreneurship Story Entrepreneurship. Some people find this word intimidating; however, my family has a lengthy history of taking the bull by the horns. Let’s begin with my grandpa on my mom’s side, he began working as an electrician in the 1970s alongside my great-uncle. Together, they formed their own electrical business which is still operating to this day. On my dad’s side of my family my grandpa owned and operated a moving company which he built from the ground up. Eventually, he had five different locations across the country. Then, there’s my mom’s mother, my Mimi. She bought a balloon shop and a floral shop. She combined the two and was a successful florist for 15 years. My grandparents’ business ventures must have encouraged my parents to do the same. Today, my dad and mom own an electrical business. My dad started out as an electrician for my grandpa, but decided he wanted to work for himself. So, he left my grandpa’s company and assumed his o...
