Halfway Reflection 14A

1.     Over the last few months, I have used social skills, motivation, time-management, and organizational skills to get through this course.
2.     A time I felt like giving up was the first time we had to do interviews. I was a little nervous to do interviews with people, but after completing the first few I realized that it’s a lot easier than I thought.
3.     Three tips:
A.    Get out of your shell and don’t be afraid to talk to people. Being social and developing a social network is an important quality of an entrepreneur.
B.    Write down assignment due-dates and stay organized. Make sure you immediately submit your assignment and declare, after posting to your blog. One of the first times, I posted to my blog and declared, but forgot to submit. So, I couldn’t get the points.
C.     View the assignment early in the week, get your interviews done by Wednesday. This will ensure that you have time to do another interview if someone cancels.

  1. I was also nervous about interviewing people the first time. It felt awkward and uncomfortable. It either felt too rehearsed or fake. But it does indeed get easier over time. I think your three tips are helpful for future ENT3003 students. You have to be some level of social to be an entrepreneur. Planners have been key for me as well. There are a ton of assignments that sneak up on you.

  2. I agree that interviews are a bit uncomfortable, getting through the process always seems easier when you look back. Due diligence is a big factor of this course, I think your tips give good advice to prepare for what to expect. The assignments can be very time consuming if not planned to complete a day or two in advance.

  3. Hi Brandi, great post! I think that the last bit of advice you gave, doing interviews several days before the due date, was great advice. One time I found myself scrambling to get all of my interviews done the night the assignment was due. It ended up being my most stressful assignment for the class. I also agree that organizational skills are crucial for doing well in this class. Forgetting to submit assignments one Friday would drop your grade by a whole 9 points.

My Entrepreneurship Story 3A

My Entrepreneurship Story Entrepreneurship. Some people find this word intimidating; however, my family has a lengthy history of taking the bull by the horns. Let’s begin with my grandpa on my mom’s side, he began working as an electrician in the 1970s alongside my great-uncle. Together, they formed their own electrical business which is still operating to this day. On my dad’s side of my family my grandpa owned and operated a moving company which he built from the ground up. Eventually, he had five different locations across the country. Then, there’s my mom’s mother, my Mimi. She bought a balloon shop and a floral shop. She combined the two and was a successful florist for 15 years. My grandparents’ business ventures must have encouraged my parents to do the same. Today, my dad and mom own an electrical business. My dad started out as an electrician for my grandpa, but decided he wanted to work for himself. So, he left my grandpa’s company and assumed his o...
