Last semester one of my courses was Spanish 2. I didn’t do
well on the midterm. I had already taken
Spanish 1 and it was a lot easier, in my opinion, because there weren’t so many
conjugations to learn. After a month or two in Spanish 2, the new conjugations
were piling on and on. There are soooo many different endings, stem changes,
and tenses of verbs that it is not easy to remember. I learned that I needed to
get ahead, instead of, falling behind. I had to really focus on the new
conjugations and study them. I found it best to write down each conjugation
every time I needed to look it up. Instead of just looking back in my notes, I
would rewrite the entire conjugation. This helped me remember them better.
Failure is tough.
When I experience failure, it makes me
want to try harder. I’m not one to give up. I enjoy overcoming obstacles and
completing tasks that people doubt me on. This class has definitely helped me
to take risks. I’m not very active on social media; I’ll ‘like’ other’s posts
and comment occasionally, but many times I find myself backspacing and not
saying stuff. Well, after the first few assignments in this class, one of my
friends posted on Facebook that she was looking for house cleaning services. A
few people had already commented with well-known house cleaners. I have been cleaning
my grandparent’s house since I was 16 and have been looking for more houses to
clean, just to make some extra money. Well, when she posted this, I thought
hmmm should I comment? What if she doesn’t choose me? Then, I’ll feel stupid
for commenting. Why would she choose me over well-known cleaning services? But,
I had already done the first few assignments about being an entrepreneur. So, I
thought the worst that can happen is she doesn’t choose me. If that happens, so
what? At least I tried in the first place. So, I commented and told her I could
do it. And she chose me. I was proud of myself for actually taking a risk,
although some people may not see it as a risk, it was for me. I think that when
you take a risk and it turns out in your favor, it empowers you to take even more
risks. So, take risks because you never know, it just may empower you, too.

Hello, Brandi
ReplyDeleteVery nice job on your post! Learning a new language is always tough so I am glad that you are able to understand this and work hard to achieve your goals. I speak fluent English and Spanish, and studying Italian at the moment. It is very frustrating when you fail but at the end of the day it is worth it if you give it all you got.
