Final Reflection 30A

1.    I found it interesting to read my previous posts and see how my product has changed throughout the semester. My low was not completing the first elevator pitch. I had a lot going on at the time it was due, and I decided to take a zero instead of completing it. Which I am really disappointed about because after completing the second elevator pitch, I realized it was a breeze. My highest point of the semester was deciding on my opportunity. Initially, I was having trouble deciding what opportunity to choose and how I would meet customer needs.
2.    My most profound experience was some of the interviews. I didn’t realize how impactful and useful the interviews would be. At the beginning of the course, I was dreading all of the interviews, but after the first few I realized that they’re not difficult and nothing to be nervous about. I’m really proud of myself for completing the last two elevator pitches and learning from feedback throughout the course.
3.    I think that I have developed an entrepreneurial mindset. I desire to find problems and help people with them. I think this comes with being interested in psychology. But, it’s a different aspect. With psychology, you try to help people with emotional and cognitive problems (for the most part); whereas, entrepreneurs try to make life easier, safer, and better for their customers or audience. Before taking this course, I was interested in starting my own blog. Now, I am very excited and eager to start a blog and put information out there that could help others. After reading Kawaski’s The Art of Social Media: Power Tips for Power Users, I have more knowledge of social media and blogging.
4.    One recommendation that I would give to students that are taking this course is to relax. Yes, you need to be organized and get work done ahead of time by avoiding procrastination. But, don’t put so much stress on yourself about having perfect interviews and perfect elevator pitches. This class is a learning experience and you have to learn to grow. To foster the entrepreneur mindset, the Bugs List assignment was very helpful. Make sure that you complete that assignment and take it seriously because it is the beginning steps of seeing the world around you and trying to ‘fix’ it.

  1. I also thought it was very interesting to read my posts at the beginning of the semester and see how different my idea was back then. This entrepreneurship journey has taken all of us extremely far. In the beginning, none of us could have ever guessed how far we could have come. It has been a really cool experience to watch how far everyone’s ideas have come. Your idea, in particular, has been one of my favorites because of your mission behind the invention.

This course has been a great example of identifying personal needs through development and analyzing self actualization. Good luck to you in your successes!

My Entrepreneurship Story 3A

My Entrepreneurship Story Entrepreneurship. Some people find this word intimidating; however, my family has a lengthy history of taking the bull by the horns. Let’s begin with my grandpa on my mom’s side, he began working as an electrician in the 1970s alongside my great-uncle. Together, they formed their own electrical business which is still operating to this day. On my dad’s side of my family my grandpa owned and operated a moving company which he built from the ground up. Eventually, he had five different locations across the country. Then, there’s my mom’s mother, my Mimi. She bought a balloon shop and a floral shop. She combined the two and was a successful florist for 15 years. My grandparents’ business ventures must have encouraged my parents to do the same. Today, my dad and mom own an electrical business. My dad started out as an electrician for my grandpa, but decided he wanted to work for himself. So, he left my grandpa’s company and assumed his o...
